Alcohol is as deadly as illicit drugs |

When you withdraw from heroin, you don't generally go into seizures that can kill you. But you can with alcohol. And alcohol is the legal one! That's just a weird quirk of this country. I'm not really for making alcohol illegal. And I'm not for making illegal drugs legal either. What I am for is reducing demand by enabling people to live drug-free lifestyles. That means educating young people not to start, helping addicts find a real solution to the cravings and depression, helping people who depend on drugs learn how to live lives that don't include drugs. And that includes prescribed drugs that are properly taken, many of which are not good solutions to either good physical or mental health. There are better solutions, they might not be covered by insurance but they mean an alert, healthy person in the end.
