I'm going to voice my opinion here. The rites of passage that include alcohol are some of the stupidest customs in this country. So many young people take it for granted, in colleges especially in fraternity houses it's just about a rule. In fact, I would bet money that anyone in a fraternity who didn't drink would be ridiculed. And then there are injuries and deaths, people fall off balconies, drown in pools, have car accidents. Or they have unprotected sex, get assaulted or assault others. We are getting smarter about drinking and driving and even smoking to a degree. I wish we would get smarter about drinking and rites of growing up.
