When you withdraw from heroin, you're miserable, sick, throwing up, in muscle pain, cramps, etc. But you don't generally have convulsions and die. But you can if you are detoxing from alcohol. And it's weird because alcohol is the legal one . Maybe it is right and maybe it isn't right that it's legal. The population seems to think it should be legal. They get drunk, they are in danger of accidents, alcohol poisoning, and risk from unprotected sex, assaults, and such, but as an added bonus, they can also get addicted. When people get addicted to alcohol, it's different from most drugs. They have to withdraw gradually. Going cold turkey works for some drugs but when a person has been consuming too much alcohol for too long, then they have to taper off. It's kind of odd for me to think of a person going to a detox and getting given alcohol. But the body gets so adjusted to the alcohol that it can't detox too
